22nd Sept…..and so it goes!
Joaquin Phoenix Returning to Letterman’s ‘Late Show’
The physical form of Joaquin Phoenix is headed back to David Letterman’s “Late Show” – will he bring his mind this time?
On Monday, press representatives for CBS’s “Late Show” said that Mr. Phoenix, the living art experiment and occasional star of films like “We Own the Night” and “Walk the Line,” will be a guest on Mr. Letterman’s late-night program on Sept. 22. It’s the first time that Mr. Phoenix has been booked on that show since his notorious appearance of Feb. 11, 2009, when he gave Mr. Letterman an obtuse and largely nonresponsive interview that became a viral sensation and left viewers wondering whether Mr. Phoenix was playing an elaborate prank on the host and his audience. (And more important, who’s responsible for grooming his beard?)
CBS said it will repeat Mr. Phoenix’s earlier “Late Show” interview on Sept. 16 in anticipation of his Sept. 22 appearance, in which he’ll be promoting his documentary “I’m Still Here,” which chronicles a year in which Mr. Phoenix said he was retiring from acting to pursue a career as a rapper. Also on the show that night: the crooner Tom Jones, who will not be rapping.
